God’s Promise to Provide: Philippians 4:10-19
Today’s Devotion Speaks of a Magnificent Promise:
“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19)
These words bring great encouragement to us; but at the same time we cannot ignore the rest of the verse and the surrounding context.
“According to His riches in glory.” (Phil. 4:19) This verse emphasizes that many of God’s provisions are spiritual.
Many people look to God to provide physically when supplying “all your need,” and forget to focus on the spiritual need to interact with God. Spiritual interaction with God is the basis for Him to be able to supply you with all of your physical needs; “according to His riches.”
“By Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19) The words “Christ Jesus” gives the basis for the Lord’s abundant supply. It is based on our relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ.
“Not Withstanding Ye Have Done Well, You Did Communicate With My Affliction.” (Phil. 4:14)
The Philippians were kind and generous people who sent Paul gifts when they could. In return Paul assured them of the Lord’s provision: “Give and it will be given unto you.” (Luke 6:38)
Dear God, Thank you for your promise to provide all of my needs. I know you are providing even when I cannot physically see the works yet. Help me to stay mentally focused on all that is good and fill me with Your Spirit. Help me be a kind and giving person each and every day. I thank you God. In Jesus name I pray.
