Seeking the Lord:
Devotion: By Christa Johnson
Hosea 10:12 “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till He come and rain righteousness upon you.”
As Christians we spend time seeking the Lord, but to be truly successful at it, we must learn to adjust our focus. Focus is important because what we behold, we become. If we focus on the materialistic, we ourselves will begin leaning in that direction. Try giving up television for a week and see how it impacts your mind. You will notice that its influence has a subtle but gripping effect on you and can alter the way you think.
Focus your attention on Jesus and you will become like Him. As He pours himself into us, we absorb His characteristics. We can fix our mind on Jesus when we pray, when we study scriptures and when we meditate on God’s Word. We must go deeper, to the point of listening and sharing our hearts with Him. Be open and transparent before Him, and He will speak and fill us with His Spirit.
Learning to receive from Him in this way will diminish our hunger and thirst for anything else. Our desires won’t disappear; but instead they become redirected. You will have a growing hunger for the Lord and a longing to know Him and feel Him in your heart.
You will feel joy overflowing in you that cannot be stopped! Why? Because when you seek the Lord Jesus Christ; you recognize Him and He is your all in all.
